The Psychology of Human Potential.

Organizations thrive when people do.

FOUNDER & CEO OF BREAKING TABOOTRANSFORMING HOW WE VIEW AND TALK ABOUT MENTAL-HEALTH

For more than a decade, Serena Sun has made complex and often taboo topics in mental health and psychology accessible, engaging, and easy to digest – without losing their depth.

As Founder and CEO of the award-winning organization Breaking Taboo, Serena has built a community of more than 200,000 people and led multidisciplinary work spanning education, editorial media, documentary film, social content, and community programming – all grounded in her philosophy of “humanizing humans.”

Through evidence-based keynotes and interactive workshops, she turns psychological insight into memorable experiences that help people understand themselves, connect more meaningfully, and create real-life change.

THE STRONGEST CULTURES START WITH PEOPLE

Every organization invests in technology. The strongest organizations also invest in the people behind it.

The way people understand themselves, communicate under pressure, and relate to others shapes every culture they are part of.

Healthier cultures aren’t built through policies alone. They’re built through everyday conversations, choices, and relationships.

Serena’s keynotes help audiences recognize the patterns shaping their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and decisions – and discover healthier ways to respond.

Her interactive workshops turn that insight into practice through guided reflection, discussion, real-life scenarios, and practical exercises.

Participants leave better prepared to manage stress, navigate conflict and change, communicate with greater empathy and accountability, strengthen relationships, and make more intentional choices – personally and professionally.

Meet Serena

Serena Sun is a speaker, educator, coach, filmmaker, and the Founder and CEO of Breaking Taboo, an award-winning mental-health organization built around reducing stigma and making mental health topics more accessible, engaging, and human.

After losing several friends to suicide and addiction – and experiencing depression herself as an adolescent – Serena committed her career to helping others navigate mental health with greater understanding, resilience, and compassion. Serena recognized how often the conversations people need most are also the hardest ones to begin. That insight became the foundation of Breaking Taboo and her philosophy of “humanizing humans.”

For more than a decade, Serena has built and led teams across education, workshops, media, advocacy, and community programs; founded an editorial platform that published more than 150 educational articles; directed Breaking Taboo’s documentary work; and translated complex psychology into approachable digital content for a community of more than 200,000 people.

Her background in psychology, suicide assessment, coaching, filmmaking, performance, and education allows her to approach human behavior from multiple angles. Known for making psychology engaging, relatable, and actionable, Serena combines evidence-based insights with storytelling and practical tools audiences can apply to their work, relationships, and lives. Onstage, she combines research, storytelling, creativity, lived experience, and audience interaction to create experiences that feel human, hold attention, and give people tools they can actually use.
